custom wood turning

When my wife’s grandparents died, their family inherited their ancestral house. It was full of antiques. Since my father in law was an architect, they decided to renovate the house and restore some of the antique furniture. Restoring it was hard work but definitely worth it. They had to get some custom wood turning done.

Custom wood turning is a form or woodwork where the piece is made by moving the wood piece through a stationary tool thereby shaping it. The most common pieces produced by this woodwork are bedpost, bowls, table or chair legs and stair posts. The hard part of restoring antiques is finding the right wood with the right texture. Sometimes, it can get very expensive. The results though are definitely worth it.
