photovoltaic solar panels

Sunlight generates electricity. This happens via photoelectric effect which is the phenomena responsible for the operation of photovoltaic solar panels. This effect causes electrons to be released from silicon cells after visible light photons are absorbed. A solar panel is made of silicon, a semi-conductor.
In short, particles of sunlight travel through space and the Earth’s atmosphere before coming into contact with the solar panels. The panels generate electricity during the day when the sun is shining. A grid-interactive inverter then converts the DC electricity to AC electricity which you can now use in your home.
