Something Special About a Personally Made Rug
In the fast paced world that we find ourselves, it will not be surprising to know that not a lot of hobbyists are still interested in making their own hand-hooked rug. Hooked rug making used to be an art form. Enthusiasts found joy and satisfaction in creating patterns, deciding on colors and actually performing the hooking process, yarn by yarn. It may take them days or even weeks to finish a piece. But when they do, there is no reward better than seeing the finished product.
Sadly the art has been set aside by mechanically produced rugs. These are made of fibers that are finer in texture shorn into a smoother finish. They come in simple patterns or intricate designs to cater to every taste. But they will never be the same as traditional hand hooked rugs. There is something special about a rug that is personally made.
