My Best Friend’s Lamp
The first time I saw a touch-sensitive light fixture was when I was a little girl. I went over my best friend’s house to study for an exam. We went to her room so we could use her study desk and that was where the lamp was. I was amazed to see the light turn on when she tapped the base of the lamp. Ever since then, I’d always play with it whenever I visited her house.
Even as we got older, I always asked to see that lamp. I didn’t play with it as much as I used to; instead, I’d tap it once to make it light up and then I’d leave it alone. When she found out that I had to migrate to another country, she had the lamp fixed and gave it to me along with a new, smaller touch lamp. Now every time I look at these lamps on my desk, I am reminded of the good times we used to share.
