There are certain home accessories that never seem to go out of style. Hurricane lamp shades are very versatile. They can stand alone or be used to create a beautiful centerpiece for a formal dining room. One can also be used with a single candle for evening patio lighting. Create a simple centerpiece by using three to five hurricane lamp shades with bases. The bases prevent candle wax from dripping onto the table surface.

Next add a pewter candlestick and red taper candle to each shade for a winter centerpiece. You can add a candle wreath around the bases. To switch from winter to spring, summer and fall, replace the red candles with yellow, green and rust-colored candles. Change the wreath’s theme or colors according to the season.
