All installations that require electrical connections should be done by qualified licensed personnel. Improper connections can result in damage to persons and property. They present hazards, which can result in personal injury or property damage. Some of the hazards that can result from a defective installation include fires, electrocution or carbon monoxide poisoning. A residential generator installation inside living areas can cause carbon monoxide build-up and poisoning. This can be avoided by installing carbon monoxide detectors.
Fire is also a very real hazard when installing and using home generators. This is so because flammable fuel is used to run the generator. The electrical connection can also be a cause for fire. What we are learning here is that generators are a great help in the home. It should, however, be handled with care from installation to maintenance.
