There is something about quality wood products that makes you want to caress it. A well crafted wooden vase is good to the touch. It is almost as smooth as glass. It is also good to look at. What other natural material can boast of beautiful shading that varies from light to dark? It makes you think of all the hard work that had to be done to get it to its present appearance.

A wooden vase starts from a good piece of wood. Maple or oak are good to start with. They are hard and have a beautiful finish. Start by roughing out the basic shape with a chisel. Switch to a shaping chisel and begin to cut the final form. Once you have the complete shape you start sanding the surface with sand paper. You can use a lathe or do it by hand. Then you can say that you just made a handcrafted wooden vase.
