Boxes are usually used for storage. Whether it’s out of season clothes and decors or sports equipment and craft materials, boxes can be used to safely store them away until you need them again. These boxes can be as plain as a box can be, or it can be carved, stenciled, or tiled to make it look more presentable and pleasing to the eye. Custom-made boxes not only help with storage, but it can be a good living room décor as well.
One example of custom made hardwood boxes is my grandmother’s old hope chest. Carved with flora and fauna, it is one of my favorite living room pieces in my grandmother’s house. She said it was a wedding gift from her father, and it contained things newlyweds usually needed such as kitchenware, small appliances, draperies and some cushions. Now it serves as storage for magazines and books for guests to read.
