formal dining room furniture

People often associate formal dining décor with heavy furniture and upholstered pieces. My idea of furniture for the dining room is a long rectangular wooden table with beautiful wooden chairs. I will prefer my formal dining room furniture to be light and easy. The wooden material will add a warm cozy feel but rather than thick upholstered pieces I prefer the natural touch of cane. To me, a cane weaved backing on a heavy wooden chair looks just as elegant as an upholstered piece.

The furniture adds to lot to the look of the dining room, but that is not the only element that will create the desired look. Other components such as lighting, window treatments and the use of mirror will work together to create a preferred look. Lighting dictates the feel of the room at night. Mirrors open up the space and provide reflective light in the daytime. It is also important to provide adequate space around the table. An uncluttered dining area provides the right ambiance for a relaxed time for eating.
