The Jewish celebrates Hannukah or Chanukah which they also call the Festival of Lights. It is an eight-day holiday which commemorates the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt. The festival is observed by the kindling of the lights of a special candelabrum called the Menorah. One is lighted on each night of the holiday progressing to eight on the final night. A Menorah will have an extra light also lit each night for the purpose of lighting the others.
Hannukah is celebrated with joyful celebration. Parties are usually organized for family and friends. And on these occasions hannukah décor takes center stage. The menorah itself is often used as the centerpiece in most festive meals. The dreidel is another Hanukkah must. It is a four sided top with a Hebrew letter on each side. It is used to play a fun Chanukah game of chance and can add a lot of fun to the party.
