art glass

My family bought a vacation house in the mountains. The previous owner left some furniture. Among the furniture he left was a glass stand cabinet full of art glass. It consisted of small animals made of glass. I used to think that art glass was expensive. When I was a kid, I was often not allowed to play with them. I even had a favorite piece from my mom’s cabinet; a unicorn with a golden horn.

Now that we have all these art glass in our new house, I take my time to study each of them closely. The previous owner had obviously been well traveled. His collections include art glass pieces from Venice, France and the Czech Republic. Each art glass was different from the other. They all looked so fragile. When I was in Venice in 2003, I saw firsthand how art glass was formed and carved. I was so tempted to buy then but I chose not to because I had other things to buy.
