When we got married, my husband and I went shopping for a bed. Being newlyweds, we were working on a constraint budget. We could afford a king mattress but that meant buying a king size bed frame. It wasn’t practical because we already had a queen size frame. Unfortunately we fell in love with this gorgeous king size bed frame that we can barely afford. We bought it and got a second hand mattress and just covered it up with a king mattress pad.

We figured we’ll invest (a term people use to justify going overboard) in a good frame and just save up on a good mattress later. In the meantime, buying a king mattress pad rescued us from going into a great debt. We were out on the market for a queen size bed for our queen size bed frame. Instead, we got a king size bed frame, a second hand king size bed mattress and a king mattress pad. To top off our spending spree, we got a gorgeous carpet for our equally gorgeous bed.
