While a goose will produce better quality down than a duck, different types of geese produce different kinds of down. Thus, a queen goose down comforter, if made with Siberian goose down is considered of a different class because of its excellent thermal qualities. Down from the Eider ducks of Iceland which has an extremely cold climate, are the warmest and the most luxurious. These different kinds of queen goose down comforters are available in most department stores and linen outlets. They are also available in online stores.

Aside from its softness and thermal qualities goose down comforters are known for their hypoallergenic qualities. Some of the best hypoallergenic down comforters feature all natural cotton covers. The filling is a blend of 80% pure Hungarian goose down and 20% synaca clusters which is the soft hollow fibers of the milkweed plant. The resulting blend of fill wicks moisture away from the body far more quickly than either down or synthetics. The results are lightweight and plush comforters for those with allergy concerns.
