One of my favorite movies is “The Thomas Crown Affair”. The movie begins with a stolen painting from the Met. The painting was some priceless landscape art which we later on learn Thomas Crown – the lead stole for fun and returned. There seemed to be something irresistible about landscape art. They are often bursting with colors.
Landscape art has a calming effect on people. Landscape paintings are often placed in urban homes. I have been to several apartments in crowded cities where landscape paintings are often placed in the living rooms. It is if these city dwellers wish they could capture a piece of the outdoors in their homes. Landscape paintings are also one of the most popular subjects for murals in high end building lobbies.
